Candidate Statement

I am the only candidate for Public Advocate who is not a member of the politics-as-usual club.  I am also the only candidate who has been building a resume as a public advocate by actively defending the rights of people in the areas of housing, education, health, labor, the environment and the delivery of social services – at no cost to the taxpayers. Listed below are my positions on a number of problems facing the residents and businesses in NYC.  While the public advocate often tackles such problems one citizen at a time, I pledge to aid the new administration in working on all of these issues and any that should come up in an emergency.  I am committed to fighting for the health, safety and education for a healthy New York.

The two images at the left need little explanation, especially for those who know all too well of the tragedies of war while fighting for democracy.  In addition to all of those forgotten and mis-placed veterans of past wars declared or not, we will soon  have the veterans of the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers in the aftermath of the tragedy as well as those in the War on Terrorism.  I will ensure that ALL of these veteran heroes be treated with the respect they deserve. It's time that of the red-blooded heroes of all colors be provided with a life that has been well-earned and deserved by risking and sacrificing theirs for our freedom and safety.

The air, rivers and streams were free from today's pollutants. It was a time when our most precious natural resource -- our water supplies -- were safe for drinking, fishing and swimming!

Operation: Save the Environment  I will ensure that all agencies of the city will stop using deadly man-made poisonous pesticides in schools and parks. The ineffective mass-spraying efforts to control adult mosquitoes must stop.  I will ensure that safe methods will be used in dealing with pest management in the city.  There can be long-lasting and detrimental health effects that results from  exposure to poisonous chemicals -- especially to those people with weakened immune systems such  as senior citizens and children.  And let's not forget the yet to be born.  Link to Environment Page for more information.

After WWII, government funding was made available for many to purchase their first homes. That was when houses were built to last!

Operation: Save Our Housing  Many commercial and residential rents in NYC continue to rise above the point of being affordable; commercial and residential tenants alike have been illegally evicted to increase rents; and publicly owned  housing is practically being given away.   A plan will be implemented to reduce and in the long-run, stop ALL illegal evictions; complaints of illegal rent increases will be investigated and offenders will be penalized; and community-based education programs on housing issues will be implemented.

Children and teachers alike were motivated. That was when schools were safe, 1 + 1 = 2 and children were taught to read and write!

Operation: Save the School System I became intimately involved with the public school system over two years and learned first-hand how it does not function to the benefit of the students.  One of the objectives of the plan is to eliminate the Board of Education and the corruption that is alive and well at 110 Livingston Street.  Many of our current do-little politicians are trying to convince us that to eliminate the board would politicize the system, which is nothing more than propaganda because it is already politicized.  It’s time to provide accountability to one person only and that person is the mayor!

The funding of sports and the arts for children was plentiful. These activities made for well-rounded children and helped create better citizens! The funding of sports and the arts for children was plentiful. These activities made for well-rounded children and helped create better citizens!

Operation: Save the Children will be implemented to improve the education and safety of students in public schools.  A plan that I've developed named the Phoenix Bird Rising Project will assist in the funding of  programs in the arts, sports and music, which will be presented to the new administration in 2002.

Operation: Fire Prevention: Far too many lives are being lost and property damaged as a result of not having sprinkler systems installed in all hi-rise buildings in the city.   I am in the process of developing a plan for a new and direct fire-notification system to FDNY using the latest technology, and at the very minimum, to formulate and pass legislation to insure that ALL hi-rise buildings in NYC require the installation of sprinklers.

Operation: Save the Middle Class:  I will insure that the small businesses hurt as a result of the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001 will be helped just as the major corporations are being bailed out by the government.  In the area of the construction industry, I will ensure that the practice of unscrupulous contractors who knowingly ignore safety and wage requirements will come to an end with my election as public advocate.

...

Help elect me as your public advocate.  I will continue to fight for the way life should be in New York City because I am the only candidate who knows and cares about how good it can be!

I became a community activist in 1995. Because of my success as an activist and uncovering corruption in the system, I gave up my successful corporate career of 30 years in the computer field in 1997 to concentrate on building a career as an advocate for all.

My word of honor!

It's unfortunate that money talks and everyone else walks in today's society. Contribute what you can to help me get elected.

One of my strenghts is that of an educator. Take a look at the community cable projects that I've done. Clips from the shows are due by the beginning of September.
